Kenya: Marwa Orders Minah Mosque Reopened
(Thursday, January 29, 2015) 19:45

MOMBASA county commissioner Nelson Marwa yesterday ordered the reopening of a mosque in Kisauni that was taken over by radical Muslim youths.

Marwa urged leaders to set up a legitimate committee to manage Masjid Minah.

The mosque is among the four that were closed by the government for alleged radical teaching and recruitment of youths to join Jihad.

One youth was killed and several others arrested during the operation in which police displayed grenades, bomb making materials and Jihad literature allegedly seized from the mosques.

The mosques were Sakina, Swafaa, Minah and Musa.

Addressing a baraza in Miritini yesterday, Marwa said the Muslim leaders, including the Supreme Council of Kenya, and the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya should arbitrate.
